Millet

Millets grow as rain-fed crops in dry areas and are small-seeded and heavier. They have the capacity to cultivate under marginal soil fertility and moisture conditions. Millets are also an important ingredient of prehistoric diet in Indian, Chinese and Korean societies. Millets are one of the oldest food known to humans and possibly the first cereal grain to be used for domestic purposes.

Types of Millets

 

Pearl millet

Finger millet

Foxtail millet
